Date Kaname is a special police officer stationed in Tokyo, Japan as a Psyncer for A.B.I.S at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. He is investigating the Cyclops Serial Killings in an attempt to catch the perpetrator and bring an end to the killings. In the past, Date lost his left eye in an incident, and eventually had it replaced with an artificial eyeball containing an AI construct, AI-Ball.
